The Cream always rises to the top

Cream @ Royal Albert Hall:It's really something to see a new CD and two new Cream DVD's in the store. Even more interesting, is how one set can be so great and the other so bad. At least that's the impression I get from the reviews on amazon.com. But nothing's better than getting the real scoop from fans who dug it, bought it, watched and listened to it, and then gave their review feedback, for what it's worth.

That said, the two Cream DVD's are both recorded at the famous Royal Albert Hall . The first is a fabulous reunion recorded May 2 - 6 in 2005, in which Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker make an electrifying return as THE power trio of the sixties. They've also been called the first rock supergroup. Either one works for me. The Cream always rises to the top.

Cream - Farewell ConcertThe second...the actual farewell concert Cream performed in November 1968. This DVD just came out, and from the looks of the customer reviews, they shouldn't have bothered. Bad sound and terrible camera shots ruined what otherwise might have been a worthwhile glimpse of the band, so you just take it at face value, and call this a historical document. Kinda like Woodstock...great music; bad sound and video, but that was the state-of-the-art at the time. Sour Cream.
