Iron Butterfly: Heavy Platinum

Iron Butterfly's first album 'Heavy,' was not only great heavy metal music, but also had a very cool album cover.

"In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" was the standard for drummers from the year it first came out, 1968, into the 70's. If you could play that drum solo, you earned the respect of other musicians and your peers.

The song was truly a "defining moment" in heavy metal history. Iron Butterfly was awarded the music industry's very first platinum record for sales of over eight million copies of the album.
