It Ain't All Heavy He's My Brother

Classic Rock Albums that my little brother would swipe and listen to, when I wasn't looking...then thirty years later he finally admits it!

Beatles - White Album
We couldn't get enough of this double album, probably because of the incredible variety of music on it; my favorite is "Savoy Truffle and Blackbird."

CCR - Cosmo's Factory
Another album we played the grooves off of; hard to pick a favorite because of all the hits, but "I

Heard It Through The Grapevine" was a great long jam. - Mike
I think next to the Beatles, CCR was probably the number two band I would listen to out of your collection. - David

Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida
The long version was the drummer's standard, I had every beat memorized.

Rolling Stones - Hot Rocks
It had all their 60's hits; I looked up to Charlie Watts as a drummer and tried to copy his style.

Cream - Best Of Cream
Another big record; Ginger Baker's drumming still inspires me thirty years later!

Crosby Stills Nash & Young - Deja Vu
Their incredible vocals and distinctive songwriting kept me spellbound.

Dave Clark Five - American Tour
The DC5 was right up there with the Beatles; Dave Clark as a drummer, producer and band leader really impressed me; I liked their slower songs like "Because" and "Whenever You're Around."

Sandy Nelson - The Best of the Beats
Loved that record! - David

My favorite song was "Mother-In-Law," but the whole album was just full of instrumental versions of hits like "Yakety Yak, Don't Be Cruel, Ooh Pooh Pah Doo, and Willie and the Hand Jive." - Mike

and later on ....

Cat Stevens - Teaser & the Firecat
Every song on this album was great; "Bitterblue" was probably my favorite.

Doobie Brothers - Toulouse Street
Another album full of great music like "Jesus Is Just Alright, Rockin' Down The Highway and Disciple."

Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Heavy metal music never sounded so good, but it had to be really loud...you just can't listen to "Iron Man" at half volume!

I am sure there are at least ten more albums when I can think about it. The first two LP's ever given to me were from you...Cat Stevens Tea for the Tillerman and Black Sabbath Vol. 4. I guess you wanted me to either be well rounded or a maniac, and I think I turned into a well rounded good mannered maniac.

Take a good look at that list, throw in Dad's Hee Haw hillbilly C&W and Mom's Benny Goodman jazz and Glen Miller's big band sound and I think you can see where I was groomed. I passed through the Ted Nugent, Rush, Triumph, AC/DC era of the 70's and landed in the new groove with 3 Doors Down, Staind, Dave Matthews Band and John Mayer. - David (CyberCoder)
