The Dave Clark Five Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

The 2007 nominees for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been announced...The Dave Clark Five, Chic, Grandmaser Flash & the Furious Five, R.E.M., The Ronettes, Patti Smith, The Stooges, Joe Tex, and Van Halen. Five artists will be inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame at their annual ceremony on March 12, 2007 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. The five inductees for 2007 will be announced in January.

For me, the Dave Clark Five is at the top of the list for the next Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. C’mon, I was listening to as much DC5 as the Beatles during the 60's. Their first American Tour album was an early favorite in my collection.

I remember being impressed with Dave Clark's big beat sound and the fact they used a saxophone in some of their records. And I had never seen a band line up like theirs before, where the drummer was up front and appeared equal with the guitarists. Plus they had over two dozen hits like Because, Catch Us If You Can, Glad All Over and Whenever You're Around.
