'Pointer Sisters' June Pointer Dies at 52

June Pointer died Wednesday April 12 of cancer.

The Pointer sisters had several hits in the 70's and 80's including "I'm so Excited" and "Fire".

Before making a name for themselves the Pointer Sisters starting singing in an Oakland church and moved on to sing backup for such artists as Taj Mahal, Elvin Bishop and Boz Scaggs.

Bonnie Pointer left the group in 1977 to go solo, while Anita and Ruth continue to perform under the group's name.
