Virtual Ticket ~ A 360 Degree Tour
As a self-proclaimed "power surfer" I've seen some pretty cool websites. Now the really neat thing about the internet is, there's always something new right around the corner.
We've discovered something called TheVirtualTicket, which is a nifty new media player that allows multi-tasking between a multitude of content like a Chat Room,Tour Reports, News Stories, Interviews, Photo Galleries, plus exclusive content up In The Attic and down Bootleg Boulevard. Not only can you see & hear great music, but you can post a comment on anything and share with your friends via email or the chat room.
It's from Ultrastar and their newest VirtualTicket is the SqueezeBox on The Who's tour site @ www.thewhotour.com/squeezeBox.
I'm actually watching a Who video while writing this. I know that's not unusual, but it's not just performance videos. I'm traveling around backstage with Pete & SimonTownshend, Roger Daltrey, Zak Starkey and the band; peeking behind the scenes and hanging out at rehearsals. The video screen is much larger and clearer than the usual web video. And I didn't experience any "drop-outs" or "please wait while buffering" errors on my home broadband connection.
But video is just one slice of the multimedia pizza...It's all about the fan's live concert experience. I spent almost an hour backstage at the Virgin Music Festival with Pete Townshend and friends, with The Flaming Lips and The Raconteurs, at Rachel's In The Attic video segment. Very cool.
There's also a Rolling Stones Virtual Ticket under development. Stay tuned, because this could be big...or at least bigger than an iPod video screen!
