Remembering Lennon and McCartney: Heroes in death and in life

So this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun

And so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear ones
The old and the young

A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

From John Lennon's "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)"

John Lennon was born in Liverpool, England on October 9, 1940, and assassinated on December 8, 1980 in New York City. God Bless you, John. Thanks for the peace, love and music!

Review: Paul McCartney, The Space Within Us DVD

Opening with "Magical Mystery Tour," the excitement builds with each song. This 2005 concert film is outstanding in many ways. This DVD is much better than the previous US Tour video documentary and is highly reccommended for any McCartney or Beatles fan. Awesome video editing with Dolby 5.1 surround sound.

It's the first time in history a live music concert is beamed up to the international space station. There's a segment in the film where Paul and the band, along with the live audience at Anaheim, greet the astronaunts with a little "English Tea." The song was featured as one of NASA's daily wake up calls, along with "Good Day Sunshine." Now that's what I call high-tech. About 220 miles high, which is the orbit of the space station.

The concert is also visually stunning with a lighted stage and backlit video wall with multiple projection screens above. I saw the Dallas show and this DVD brought back all the excitement and memories of singing along through the entire concert, which was a pretty amazing night. It was like a hit parade of Beatles, Wings and solo McCartney songs, all wrapped up in warm fuzzy memories that play out in your mind. And no one minded the nostalgia one bit.
